Tile Crunch
You are a worker being sent workloads, represented by hammers, and your job requires you to complete all of the work – catch all the hammers before they reach the bottom of the screen. You can pace yourself and walk slowly to the hammers, or you can rush by holding the rush button; rushing allows you to move much faster, but the tiles you walk on are unstable and may crack if you do so. Without the tiles, you can barely walk at all.
This game is made for the GDevelop Big Game Jam #5, whose theme is "unstable". There are two aspects to the way this game utilizes the theme. Firstly, and most obviously, is the physical instability of the tiles. But secondly, and more importantly, it represents the instability of a workplace that pushes workers too hard, how an employer can ultimately doom the employee to failure by demanding too much.
I decided to make this game to give everyone a taste of what it's like to live with invisible disability that doesn't get taken seriously. Just like how you can appear for awhile to be able to move faster than you reasonably can in this game, I can appear for awhile to be able to work harder than I reasonably can. But once you run out of tiles, or once I run out of spoons, work performance plummets to almost nothing.
